Back on trail! But, first, a few stops. Right before I had gotten into town, my foot got caught on a branch or root. As I tried to complete my forward step, the only thing I heard was “RIIIIP!” There went my shoe.

Another town day! Geez, it feels like I do this a lot. Anyway, let’s go!

This morning, I awoke in a cloud. Luckily, it wasn’t chilly out, but it was definitely misty. Mountain Momma and Jingles were up before I was, but we had breakfast together and said our goodbyes before I headed out.

Today was one of those days in which I didn’t really want to hike. Sometimes, I’m tired of walking and just want to sit somewhere in the sun and enjoy the scenery. Instead of moving, I wanted to be stationary.

Ahhh, waking up in a soft, warm bed is a luxury I never take for granted while on trail. FarOut comments raved about the breakfast at this motel (The Willows Motel), so I had to check it out for myself. It didn’t disappoint!

Town day! It was still exciting to wake up to a town day even though I had been in one just the day before. But, at least I would be able to sleep in a bed tonight.

I woke up bright and early today so that I would have enough time to make it to the post office. By my conservative calculations, I would get there around 30 minutes before closing time, which was perfect.

Today, I was on a mission. It was Friday and I had to be in the next next town, Cheshire, by Saturday at noon in order to pick up a package from the post office.

This morning, I took it slow and easy. The sun came up across the lake, warming the picnic tables, so I took my things over there and set up for a sunny breakfast.

I mentioned the mushrooms on the AT in an earlier post, but they really started to stand out in MA. When hiking the AT, it can be easy to lose yourself in the monotony of the green tunnel.
