This shelter was a little creepy last night. Right as we were going to bed, someone came stomping into camp. They traversed the whole camp area, going up and around the hillside multiple times, their headlamp and grunts highlighting their every move.

With no pressure to hike big miles today, we awoke with calm. Janitor had accidentally set his alarm to 6 am, but it actually worked out well.

This morning we awoke to weather we hadn’t seen in a while. It did indeed rain last night and it was pretty chilly. Looking outside, we were surrounded by clouds.

We stuck to the plan today! It was difficult, but we did it. The first step was to get out of camp early.

New day, new plan!! We’re getting back on trail and we’re gonna make it. Today we got back on at US 52 with the sun blazing.

I woke up this morning strongly convinced of one major point: I don’t do shelters. Last night, the sounds of mice scratching and scuttling along the floorboards of the shelter kept me up all night

This morning was a stark contrast to last night. Instead of wind and cold clouds, we awoke to blue skies and warm sunshine.

We got on trail at a good time today, probably around 11 or 11:30 am. The sky didn’t look like it was going to hold for long. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

Today was a planned zero day. As usual, I worked on my blog posts and caught up on journal entries.

Town day! Tomorrow is a zero, so I was not too concerned about getting to town early, but I did want to get there in time for lunch.
