While camped at my stealth site last night, I heard my first moose of the trail! For some reason, I had woken up in the middle of the night, fully awake and alert.

This was the first day of the rest of the trail! I woke up bright and early, ready to leave Gorham and get back on trail. After running a couple of errands and grabbing lunch, I stuck my thumb out and waited for a ride.

Today I woke up ready for a trip to Miami via Boston. Finding a flight out of southern Maine/northern New Hampshire was a bit challenging because all of the airports were a couple hours drive away.

I woke up eager and excited this morning, knowing that all that stood between me and Janitor were a few miles and a few more hours. My goal today was to make it to Gorham, so I could start my journey to Miami the next day.

I started my day looking forward to an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and only 2 more days on trail until Miami, but by the time I sat down to my full plate, I had lost my appetite. I woke up early that morning so I could go back to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, eat breakfast, and pick up my bag lunches.

I had to wake up early this morning so that I could pack up my things before the guests got up and ready for breakfast. That means my alarm went off at 5:45 – ooof! You know I’m not an early riser, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t that difficult to wake up.

My morning started before the sun was fully up, which was a rare occurrence for me. I knew I had a lot of mountains to climb today and I wasn’t sure how difficult they would be, so I wanted to give myself as much time as possible to complete my day.

Today was a big mileage day for the Whites. I was on a bit of a strict schedule because I had a special event to attend in a couple of days. Janitor and I were going to Miami to attend a friend’s wedding and I didn’t want to miss this trip.

Well, it was finally time for me to leave the Old Colony Ski Club. When people say it’s a vortex they aren’t lying! I had only planned to stay for one night initially, but I got sucked in and stayed for 3 instead.

I woke up bright and early so I could slackpack today and it was well worth it. Jenn from the ski club drove me over to the notch after I picked up a couple of breakfast sandwiches and other snacks from the corner store to fuel me for the day.
