Town day! Tomorrow is a zero, so I was not too concerned about getting to town early, but I did want to get there in time for lunch.

This morning I woke up in time to pack all of my things up (tent included) just before the rain started. A bunch of hikers were already up at 7:30 am, but they were waiting for the 8:45 am bus into Marion.

Back on trail and back solo on the AT. Janitor still wasn’t feeling up to getting back to hiking, but I was more than happy to get the miles done.

This morning I woke up super early because it was town day! I was up at 6 am and started hiking around 6:45 am. I was eager to get to town and eat, eat, eat.

Whew, it was cold last night! This morning I awoke to frost on both the outside and inside of my tent. Yes, it was that cold.

Last night was a quiet night. No wind, no rain, just peace. I woke up around 7 am, got ready, and chatted with a hiker named Green over breakfast. At 8:05 I hit the trail.

Last night, I didn’t sleep too well. I don’t know what it was, but my mind was restless. Well, now that I’m thinking about it, I did have iced tea yesterday, so maybe I should avoid caffeine altogether.

Solo on the AT again. But, we’ve got goals to reach, so I’ve gotta do what I gotta do. It was sad saying goodbye to Janitor this morning.

An unplanned zero, but for good reasons. Janitor needed to heal his aching tendon, so rest and ice was what he was prescribed.
